| MightySync 3.0 Frequently Asked Questions SYNC Q. Does MightySync support bi-directional sync, PDA->PC & PC->PDA ? A. Yes! When you add a file to a sync, even if the file exists on both the device and the PC you only need to set it up one way, MightySync will automatically determine which file is newer. Q. Is it possible to specify that a file should only be synced one way? A. Yes! Select a file and hold CTRL then drag the file in the direction you wish the file to be synced. When MightySync finds this file it will know that it is only to be synced in the direction the sync was created. Q. What happens if a file has changed on the PDA and it also has changed on the PC? A. MightySync will detect a conflict and will prompt you which action you wish to take. Check on the Use this file button to select which file to keep, remember that this will overwrite the other file if you're not sure you can press Skip and you will be prompted again the next time you sync. Q. What happens if I delete a file on my PDA, will MightySync restore it from the Desktop file? or delete it? (and vice versa) A. It's up to you, in the settings menu, in the Advanced tab there is a section where you can specify how to handle file deletion. The choices are: Do Nothing - If this is selected, the file will simply be skipped Copy the existing file over - This will restore the file from the existing one Delete the existing file - This will delete the existing file Prompt me (unless silent sync is enabled) - This will prompt you to choose which option (if silent sync is enabled, it will do nothing). There is also a check box Remove file from sync list use this if you wish the file to be removed from your sync after this sync. It's worth mentioning that you can also choose Send desktop file to recycle bin before overwriting it this may help prevent data loss by sending the desktop file to the recycle bin, if something goes wrong, you have a chance to fish it out from there. Q. Does MightySync keep a log of the files it syncs? A. You can enable logging in the settings menu. When you enable logging you have the option to create a new file after every sync or reuse the same file. It is recommended that you reuse the same file, otherwise the number of logs will grow, they are usually small, but over the course of months, it could add up. MightySync creates HTML log files, which require a web browser to properly view them. DOCUMENT CONVERSION Q. Does MightySync support document conversion? A. Unfortunately MightySync 3.0 does not support conversion of PSW or PXL documents. However, MightySync can convert Word .DOC files to .RTF (and vice versa) which is readable by PocketPC 2002 devices (such as my HP Jornada 568), and if you save your Excel spreadsheets in Excel 5.0/95 XLS format, your desktop version of Excel would have no trouble opening it. Q. Can MightySync resize images when it syncs? A. Yes! In the settings menu under the Conversions tab, you can find options that will let you specify how you want MightySync to handle images. Always - Will always convert images to the specified size If larger than target format - Will only convert images if they are larger than the specified format Never - Will always sync images full size. Supported formats: QVGA (320x240) VGA (640x480) Device resolution |
